Holiday Brawls: What Happens Consumerism Wins Over Holiday Spirit

Is "Black Friday" just a day to get the hottest deals? Or is it proof that the value of a gift became more important than the meaning of the holiday. From November to the end of December, there is holiday spirit all in the air, well at least it used to be. The holiday season is about spreading joy, giving thanks, waving at a complete stranger, sitting down in crowded restaurants and sparking up a conversation with a random family, and most of all spending time with loved ones. It seems as though these values have been lost over the past decade and instead we have  traded them for overcrowded malls, long lines, and family members' skipping out on family dinners in hopes of catching this years best blender on sale, or finding a new video game little Johnny and Sally want for Christmas. Is the holiday spirit gone forever? Has the hottest deals on electronics and clothing really taken away from our favorite family holiday season? One can only hope not.
